I love the Autumn. I love the freshness of the air, the change of colour on the trees and it often feels like a time of new beginnings. Don’t get me wrong I am not particularly looking forward to six months of cold, damp/wet weather and dark nights! But, for a short period I embrace the change of the season and a sense of new beginnings. Maybe it goes back to being as school and the start of the new academic year. Well done to all those parents who successfully delivered the little ones to the start of their school life. Having been there twice I know how emotional it can be. In fact, it was this stage in my own life that prompted me to change my career and become a full-time coach. It caused me to re-evaluate my personal values and what my drivers were in life. And by that I mean, why was I doing my job? Did I still enjoy it, find it fulfilling and rewarding? Was it worth the compromise of not being at home with the children? Was it enriching my life or causing me more stress? Working with my coach I did some serious thinking. She helped me make sense of my thoughts and navigate what felt like a million reasons why I couldn’t do something else! I now sit here writing this having quit a well paid job (of 10 years), gone back to Uni, having retrained, set up my own business, worked with amazing people, businesses and clients, and taken nearly all the summer holidays off with my kids!
Believe me when I say I have read posts like this before and thought, “oh yeah, all sounds too good to be true!”. It has been tough I won’t lie. There have been many sleepless nights, money worries, mistakes, successes and even more questions that I need to answer. But would I do it all again. Without a doubt.
