It felt like it came out of the blue and caught me by surprise. Something wasn’t right at work. I couldn’t articulate what was wrong but my normal self-confidence had gone, my energy and motivation were low and I couldn’t focus. Clearly something wasn’t right but I didn’t understand it or have a clue where to start trying to fix it. Working is a huge part of who I am and I am also a working parent with financial responsibilities. I didn’t feel I could afford to have a wobble about my career and my future. I also had lots of friends at work. It wasn’t just a job it was like an extended family. I had been fully invested but something was changing.
I started working with a coach. If I am honest I wasn’t entirely sure what the process would be like or the outcome. Very quickly she helped me to realise that my personal values had changed and that the feelings of unease I was experiencing and the questions I had were because these values were now they were not being met. She supported me as I overcame the obstacles for why I couldn’t change jobs. Such as; small children, financial responsibilities, the need for flexible working, low confidence and self-belief etc.
Part of the coaching process was about reconnecting with my strengths, capabilities, career successes, what I loved to do and what didn’t! I had to be honest about the fears that were keeping me stuck. My coach listened, supported, challenged and held me accountable as we created a plan of next steps which resulted in me going back to university and changing my career! I have never looked back.
Studying for my Post Graduate Certificate in Business and Personal coaching was the start of my plan to start my own coaching practice. I learnt a lot about myself during my studying. I know that if I’d had coaching earlier in my career my performance would have been consistently stronger. I also believe my leadership and management style would have been much more effective. I would have worried less and believed in myself more! I want my clients to feel and experience this.
Since completing my Post Grad I have continued to study and broaden my coaching in; CBT in coaching, Trauma informed coaching, High Performance Cultures, Grief/loss & uncertainty, Stress Management and Wellbeing which I use 1:1 or within organisations.
I am extremely proud to be a PCC accredited coach with the International Coach Federation. This is only awarded after completing a minimum of 500 hours of coaching in addition to completing an entire ICF training programme. The ICF has taken the lead in developing a definition and philosophy of coaching and establishing ethical standards among its members.
I believe that investing in coaching for yourself, your team or your business will provide transformational change leading to amazing results. The testimonials of my clients speak for themselves. Get in touch to have an initial no obligation conversation.
